The Friends

The Friends of St. Colman's Cathedral is a group of parishioners of the Cathedral Parish of Cobh, Diocese of Cloyne.

Inspired by a deep love of St. Colman's Cathedral as a shrine of prayer and worship, and a profound appreciation of its significance as one of the primary architectural gems of our country, the group works for the conservation of the integral patrimony of this great religious and cultural monument for future generations.

The group does so by promoting a greater appreciation of the heritage of the Cathedral among parishioners and visitors, and by campaigning to ensure that the Cathedral is integrally preserved, both externally and internally.

Cobh Cathedral

At present, the group is engaged in an appeal to An Bord Pleanála against the decision of Cobh Urban District Council to grant planning permission for the re-ordering of the Cathedral sanctuary as proposed in the plan submitted by the Trustees of St. Colman's Cathedral.

To defray the expenses which will be incurred, "The Friends of St. Colman's Cathedral" is dependent on the generosity of the people of the Parish of Cobh and the Diocese of Cloyne.
